How to Print a map.army Tactical Map at the Correct Scale
This guide explains how to print your current project in map.army .
Open Print & Export
- Click the
Print & Export button in the toolbar.
Choose Print
- Select the Print option.
- Adjust page size, orientation, and scale as needed.
- Use your browser’s print dialog to select the printer or save as PDF.
- For best results, set margins to None and enable Background graphics.
Tip: Use landscape orientation for wide maps.
Verify the printed scale
If you need a specific map scale (for example 1 : 25 000 with a 1 000 m grid), the most common cause of inaccurate printed grid squares is the browser or printer dialog automatically shrinking the document to fit the page:
- In the browser print dialog, set Page Scaling (or “Scale”) to None / 100 % — not “Fit to printable area” or “Shrink to fit”. Some printer drivers expose the same option as “Fit to page” — turn it off.
- Disable any margin auto-shrink in the printer driver (often shown as “Borderless” or “Auto”).
- Verify on the printout itself: use the on-map scale bar or measure a known grid square against a scale ruler (such as a Pickett roamer).
If the printed grid still does not match the declared scale, share the resulting PDF and a screen recording with us via the contact form so we can investigate the source of the discrepancy.
